January 7th

Boy, I have no excuses! He has given me all the direction I need and placed it right in my hands. And in many translations I might add. How comforting to know though, whatever he calls me to and wherever he leads me he fully equips me for the task no matter how inadequate I might feel. Now my job is to study and be prepared.

Questions given to Eric by mom:

What are the scriptures? The words in the Bible.

Why is the Bible important? So you can learn about God and what He has done for us and how I need to live.

Who inspired the Bible? God

Today I learned the Bible tells you about God and God tells you how to live.

As I am known as the evil sister... I must remember I am equipped for GOOD work.

We may be fully equipped but it sure seems that sometimes we don't have the right tools for the job. I guess that's where the "faith and trust" come in to play.

...if Paul is writing to Timothy and informing him that "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God...", what was he referring to since there was no Bible? What was considered Scriptures at that time? Any comments?

Tricia, you're not evil, just more inclined to cause irritation! And not only are you equipped, but the good works are set out before you. You reminded me of Ephesians 2:10, one of my favorites.

Dad, didn't they have most of what we would consider the Old Testament: Torah, writings of the prophets, etc. Paul and Peter quote them often, especially while communicating with other Jews. It's quite a revelation to think that there is enough in just the Old Testament to point to Jesus!
