May 27th

As I read through this scripture I recognize so many things to be thankful for that are gifts to the believer because of the willingness of Christ to die for us. Romans 5 mentions justification, peace, access to God and His grace, hope in the glory of God, perseverance, character, God's love, and the Holy Spirit, to name a few mentioned. We are blessed!

What a good reminder--"suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope." This reminded me of Tricia. We would try to be encouraging when she was young and facing some disappointment. Sheri would encourage her that overcoming these challenges builds character. One day she said, "I'm tired of all this darn character"; we laughed.

I'd like to think that I'd die for a lot of people I know and care about. But for just anyone? I don't think so. How awe-inspiring it is that Jesus died for all of us sinners!
