Perhaps we all, subconsciously, wanted to stay away from the topic of self-discipline. When reading the Bible passage that said, "... I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave.." I couldn't help but to laugh. It's one of those weird laughs that we use when something is funny because it is so far from the truth. My body, my slave, while true at one point in my life, lets just say things have changed. This may be one of Gods many reminders to us to take control of ourselves. The author of today's story encourages us to run the race with eternity in view. If we don't start taking better care of ourselves we will see eternity sooner than we expect.
