It never fails to surprise me how complicated we make the gospel. The Israelites did the same thing then Jesus came to clarify and simplify God's wishes. Despite that the modern churches find ways to take the genius of simplicity and muck it all up. Let's work on K.I.S.S. !

The gospel message is intentionally spelled out so clearly for us that even a child can understand and maybe for some that is the problem. As I read over today's scripture the end of verse 12 stood out, ..."not according to worldly wisdom but according to God's grace". While one is shouting "ME" and the other simply stating, "love others", it's easy to see where the conflict begins. It's also just as easy to see where I need to direct my focus.
