It seems somewhat strange to read the story of Leah & Rachel for Valentine's Day. I was expecting a story of love and commitment instead I read about betrayal and disappointment. Not what I was expecting. If you consider the moral of the story then perhaps there is something romantic about it. Jacob so loved Rachel that he worked to "get" her for 14 years!!! Wow. Imagine if men had to show that much commitment today. Most modern marriages don't last that long. These stories are always tough to appreciate because our modern day culture is so foreign to their practices.
