I just read a newspaper article focusing on the fact that we are "hard-wired for giving". The author's focus was on scientific evidence that suggests that our brains are built for altruistic behavior and that such behavior triggers pleasurable responses. God created us to enjoy helping others. We actually get a "feel good" reward for such behavior. So if we are "hard-wired" for it and it makes us feel good then why don't we do it more often? Why don't we love and care for one another as Christ commanded with more frequency? Perhaps here we fail to acknowledge the power of the evil one. Twisted Evil Our selfishness overpowers altruistic biology. It is only by rejecting evil and focusing on God that allows us to enjoy the joy that were we created for.
