Sometimes it hard to understand WHY God loves us. We know our sinful nature, we know the sins we commit against him and yet we are still loved by Him. I'm glad that I don't have to understand it for it to be true. In today's reading the author tells us that "John reveled in the fact that Jesus loved him" not as a feeling of pride but more out of astonishment. I feel the same way at times.

I had an "ah ha" today as we did the reading!!! I'm not sure if it is the way that the author wrote it or the way Carlos said it when he read it out loud this morning but I finally have a clear understanding of what John meant all those times when he would say he was the disciple Jesus loves! I don't know why I didn't see before that John was so in awe of Jesus's love for him that he referred to himself as the one that Jesus loves!!! What a beautiful thought!

Sometimes I may think God is disappointed in me.

This is a great reminder for us as we go out and try to love others.  I think it is hard for us to completely understand God's love because we are so undeserving.  However, I think knowing that someone loves us more than we understand gives us hope for the future.
