Two of the things that today's passage made me think of are ... First of all, what Keith posted yesterday, serving The Lord is a CHOICE I need to actively make each day. Secondly, the first words in Rick Warren's "40 Days of Purpose", "It's not about me".In CHOOSING to serve The Lord I need to realize that it's NOT about me but it IS about (4:32) being kind and compassionate to ONE ANOTHER. To do this I need to (4:29) talk only in ways that are helpful for building up OTHERS according to THEIR needs. If more people did this more often what a different world we would live in.
Going back to a topic of a few days ago, Ephesians 4:32 is one of the many scriptures "Gospel Light" put to music in their children's Sunday school curriculum. Singing scripture, it's a great practice!

We are called to reflect God with all we are, and that includes our words.
This is a tough one for me as I don't always (usually don't) choose the best words.
Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.
Another punch to the gut. Part of the reason I don't sleep well is because I have trouble letting certain things go. I toss and turn thinking and stewing about the days events.
Holy Spirit, we need Your help. Guard our heartsand minds today. Help us control our thoughts andwords so that we might lift others up and show themwho You are and what You’ve done in us. Amen.

My mom showed another driver her middle finger today. She shouldn't do that!

Today's reading is a great reminder that our actions, which include our words, are part of our ministry. What we say reflects on our God and what others might think about our relationship to him. There is always someone watching or listening. Right Tricia?

Haley, that's hilarious!
Isn't it amazing that he says, "that it may impart GRACE". I don't often think of my words as even capable of imparting grace. I make every effort to spare others embarrassment and/or show others courtesy, but I don't think that's what he means here. How do our daily words effect the cause of Christ?
